Whatever it is, we can figure it out together.

Nightingale Lawyers is a small Wollongong firm with a serious civil litigation, construction and corporate practice. We act for you as if we were acting for ourselves, which mostly means resolving the thing quickly rather than billing it slowly.

Practice areas

Three things, done properly.

We keep the practice narrow so the advice can be deep. If your problem sits outside these three, tell us anyway and we will point you to someone we trust.

Civil Litigation

When talking has stopped working. We run disputes in the NSW Local, District and Supreme Courts, and in NCAT.

  • Contract and commercial disputes
  • Debt recovery and enforcement
  • Property and neighbour disputes
  • Negligence and damages claims
  • Urgent injunctions and caveats
  • Mediation and settlement

Construction Law

Payment claims, defects and contracts. Hanna has acted for builders, subcontractors, developers and homeowners since 2010.

  • Security of payment and adjudication
  • Home Building Act claims in NCAT
  • Contract review and drafting
  • Variations, delays and extensions of time
  • Defective work and rectification
  • Subcontractor and principal disputes

Corporate Law

The structure, the deal and the fallout. Company advice that keeps directors out of trouble and deals moving.

  • Shareholders and partnership agreements
  • Buying and selling a business
  • Directors' duties and ASIC compliance
  • Statutory demands and insolvency risk
  • Shareholder oppression claims
  • Commercial contracts and terms

Our philosophy

Most lawyers are not paid to end your problem.

A lawyer must be able to step into the client's shoes and act for them as if they were acting for themselves.Hanna Ayoub, Principal

We are, and it changes everything about how a matter runs. If your legal fees eclipse your liability, nothing has been accomplished. So we aim at a fair, quick and cheap resolution from the first meeting, and we tell you when the fight is not worth having.

The firm is deliberately small: a principal, a solicitor, paralegals. That is enough to run a real dispute and small enough that Hanna stays across your file personally. Teamwork, mastery and heart is not a tagline we bought. It is the reason a two person team can carry a large practice area.

More about how we work

How a matter runs

The same four moves, every time.

Every problem is fundamentally the same problem. The law and the procedure change. The stress does not. This is the sequence we apply to all of it.

01

Listen

The first meeting is about facts, not fees. We find out what actually happened and what you want the end of this to look like.

02

Scope

We separate the objective you have stated from the ones you have not. Both get written down, so the strategy answers the real problem.

03

Foresee

We map the risks before they arrive: limitation dates, costs exposure, evidence you do not yet have, the other side's best argument.

04

Act

Then we move, diligently, until the end state is reached. Where a quick and cheap resolution exists, we take it.
