A small team, on purpose.

You may think a small firm is a disadvantage. Let us show you why it is not.

Our philosophy

All problems are ultimately the same. The law and the procedure vary. The stress does not.Nightingale Lawyers

Your foremost problem is having to deal with a lawyer in the first place. If you spend so much money on lawyers that your legal fees eclipse your liability, what exactly have you accomplished? An ordinary lawyer is not incentivised to resolve your problem quickly, because how else do they get paid. We built this firm to remove that conflict.

We have a couple of lawyers and a couple of paralegals, which means we stay focused on you rather than on the size and expense of the office. It also means Hanna reads your file himself.

Empathy is not a soft skill

We firmly believe empathy is the cornerstone of effective representation. A lawyer must be able to step into the client's shoes and act for them as if they were acting for themselves. Understanding you at that level is what produces advice that is actually tailored, and a plan you can see through to the end.

The formula

Solving a problem requires a handful of things done faithfully: investigating the issues diligently; understanding the intent and the desired resolution; identifying the express and the implied objectives; foreseeing problems so risk can be mitigated; and then having the will to act until the end state is reached.

The other half of the formula is being a good listener, communicating clearly, and holding mutual respect for your fellow human. We apply that to every matter. It is why a small team can carry a large practice area.

Creativity, and being good people

Interpreting and applying legal principle takes innovative thinking and resourcefulness. We approach each case looking for the unusual solution as well as the obvious one.

Underneath all of it is a commitment to being good people, driven by a genuine passion for helping others. We are invested in your success and we treat your problem as if it were our own. That is why we stand by our motto: whatever it is, we can figure it out together.

What this means in practice

We will tell you when a claim is not worth running. We will quote a fixed fee wherever the work can be scoped. And if the matter belongs with a specialist or a barrister, we will say so early rather than late.

Meet the team

Lawyers and paralegals, each with a job you can name.

Every member of the team brings something specific. Between them they let one principal run a practice that would ordinarily need five.

Principal Lawyer

Hanna Ayoub

Hanna founded Nightingale Lawyers in 2017, because he believes being a lawyer is a public service before it is a private profession.

Since 2010 he has practised at firms in the Sydney CBD, the western suburbs and Wollongong, building a reputation in building and construction disputes along the way.

At all times, Hanna is your point of contact. Not a paralegal, not an assistant.

Solicitor and Paralegal Team Leader

Rachel Ayoub

Rachel is a lawyer and the engine of the office. She assists Hanna with legal detail and manages the paralegal team.

She is a formidable researcher who can perceive and narrow the issues quickly, and find the cases and legislation that back the advice up.

She also makes sure that what gets delegated actually gets done.

Paralegal

Stephanie Chahwan

Stephanie is a law student at Western Sydney University and the fifth law student to work with the firm.

She drafts, researches and reviews, and she is learning the way we run matters from the inside.

Every one of her predecessors has gone on to a successful career in the profession, and we stay in touch with all of them.

Paralegal and Accounts Manager

Sylvie Tannous

Sylvie runs the administration of the office, working closely with Rachel.

Her job is to make the machinery invisible so that Hanna can spend his time on your matter rather than on paperwork.

If you have a question about a bill or a booking, Sylvie is who you want.

Nightingale Lawyers is proud to help young paralegals become lawyers. If you are a law student interested in a paralegal role, email hanna@nightingalelawyers.com.

Whatever it is, we can figure it out together.

A first conversation costs you nothing. You will speak with Hanna, not a call centre, and you will leave knowing what your options are and roughly what they cost.
